To make the game of cricket more exciting, popular, and charming a shortened form of cricket was introduced called the twenty 20 in this form each innings is for 20 overs which must be completed in 70 minutes. there is an innings break for 10 minutes so the total duration of the match is 150 minutes. The concept in mind was to shorten the game to equal to other sports like soccer, hockey tennis, etc. England and Wales cricket board first time introduced this format in 2003 in their inter-country championship and the experience was very successful, later on, ICC International Cricket Council approved this format at international and domestic levels. after that, almost the cricket boards of the world started this format at their domestic level and different leagues have been started all over the world which got outstanding popularity among the crowd on the grounds and the viewers on the television screens around the globe.

When Twenty 20 Start at International Level?
After getting popularity and excitement at the domestic level the twenty 20 starts at the international level. The First Twenty-20 international match was played in August 2004 between England and New Zealand’s women’s cricket teams while the men’s international twenty-20 match was played in February 2005 between New Zealand and Australia. The twenty-20 world cup was played after every two years.
ICC Cricket World Cup Twenty20 – 2007 | South Africa

The first edition of the twenty-20 world cup was hosted by South Africa. Twelve teams take part in the tournament which was divided into four groups of three teams each. two teams from each group will qualify for the group of eight those eight teams were divided into two groups where they play with each other. The top two teams of the group will play in the semi-finals.

The second edition of the world cup was played in England with the same pattern as in 2007. twelve teams divided into four groups

The third edition of the twenty-20 world cup was played in Sri Lanka. Twelve teams were divided into four groups
